As an American living in another country. you can enroll in a GeoBlue plan if you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and are 74 years old or younger at the time of application, or if you are a legal resident of the U.S. (citizen or foreign national) under 74 applying from the U.S. 

  • U.S. Citizens/Permanent Residents: If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident living abroad and are 74 or younger at the time of application, you are eligible. 
  • Legal Residents of the U.S.: If you are a legal resident of the U.S. (citizen or foreign national) and are 74 or younger, you can apply from the U.S.

Countries Requiring Proof of International Medical Insurance Travel Insurance to enter:

  • Schengen Area: This area, comprising 29 European countries, requires proof of travel medical insurance with specific coverage, including medical emergency/hospitalization, medical evacuation, and repatriation coverage.

  • Saudi Arabia: Travelers need to apply for a tourist visa and provide proof of travel medical insurance.

An International Visa may require documents and Qualifying International Medical Insurance. In my experience the best way to handle a visa is by going to a consulate in the US. The consulate speaks english and is there to help.

Using a Visa Company in the country when you arrive at your destination country can be confusing and can cost you a lot. You are at the mercy of the Visa Company. Visa companies are expensive.The private insurance they will sell you is very expensive.

5. You might take a trip to a country the insurance does not cover you in.

    • When determining a rate while overseas, you should use the zip code 20036, which is associated with the Global Citizen Association office in Washington D.C.
